Powder coating process is a complex, interconnected system and if any of its stages is not done properly or executed incorrectly, various issues may arise during the coating application.

• Paint does not adhere to the product at the hanging points
• Paint bounces off the painted product
• Paint slumps to the bottom edges of the product
• Coating thickness variation
• A different paint structure forms on the lower edges (after application)
• Folds and cavities cannot be sufficiently painted
• Powder doesn't enter the shielded areas and cavities of the product
• Powder falls down, doesn't adhere to the product
• Powder pulsates as it exits the gun
• Powder produces smoke/smells during curing
• Powder comes out of the powder coating guns in excessive quantities
• Powder comes out of the powder coating weakly or not at all
• Powder paint doesn't adhere to the product
• Uneven application (bumps)
• When the coating is applied, small lumps form on the surface
• When the coating is applied, blisters form on the surface (before curing)
• Powder coating guns fail during spray application
• Flower-like defects form are formed during repairs
• Layers on the product edges are too thick
• Very low powder paint yield
• High overspray during application

The quality of the final coating of a product is influenced by several factors. Problems of this type are most often associated with improper handling during paint storage and replenishment, cleanliness around the paint booth, application equipment setup or human factors.

• Colored spots / impurities in the coating
• Orange peel effect
• Finished coating is too soft
• Coarse structure is too fine
• Lumps in the cured powder coating
• Fine texture is too coarse
• Coating pinholes, reaching all the way to the base material
• Coating pinholes that do not reach the base material
• Glossy coating is not glossy enough
• Matte paint is not matte enough
• In places, semolina in the cured paint
• Yellowish shade of the finished coating
• Base material shines through under the coating
• Coating runs off during curing
• Coating peels off and is brittle (the coating lacks the required elasticity)
• Coating peels off, but it is not brittle (the coating has sufficient elasticity)
• Blisters in the coating
• Different coating shades on a single piece
• Ponds in the coating (large eyes)
• Uneven surface structure
• Excessive paint build-up around the edges
